No, you will completely understand the story without playing any of the previous GTA's. The only thing you will miss out by not playing previous GTA's is a few Easter Eggs, such as RIP written above the past leading characters in graffiti, and miniature versions of previous landmarks on the mini golf course.

1. You definitely don't need to play previous GTA's. IV is a whole new experience! 2. I'm not sure about Metal Gear Solid 4 as you may not fully know some of the characters but I played it without playing the previous and i enjoyed it nontheless. 3. I'm not too sure about this one. But I think you don't need to play Resistance 1. 4. I think you should play Killzone 1 to fully understand and enjoy the concept of Killzone 2. But of course you dont NEED to. It's just recommended

Not necessarily... Although GTA 4 follows the same gameplay elements as its previous installments... its a totally different storyline following no connection to its previous installments... This one is truly bigger, better and more exciting in terms of the character design and animation...

Nah each version of GTA that has come out has been stand alone games. There hasn't been one game were you needed to play the one before it to get it. Now, if you were taking about Metal Gear solid that would be the complete opposite lol.

NO their is no need to. Because the game is a hole new story line nothing to do with any other gta game. so you are good to go. and the graphics are really good on any tv.

All GTAs are standalone games, the numbers are just there to confuse you.
GTA4 is easy to get into without any prior knowledge about the series.
