For left turns, ALWAYS look left, right, and left again, and continue to look left through the turn; look into the direction of where you are turning when you turn.
Whenever merging into a left lane, like from a curb, make sure to check every mirror AND to look over your left shoulder.
Never forget turn signals.
Practice parallel parking as much as possible, don't go over the curb! Look over your right shoulder when backing up. It's good to of have a reference point to know where the curb is, relative to the car.
If you haven't already, you should have read a drivers' manual available from a public library or Courthouse.
Just practice whenever possible. Emphasize smoothness is application of gas and braking, and pay attention to everything- speed limits, potential hazards, weather conditions, etc. Good luck
Source(s): I had a similar experience- took the test 2x to pass at age 19. Try these websites for more detail: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/205241/ti... http://www.dmv.org/how-to-guides/parallel-parking.... http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fast_facts/ff... - Anonymous1 decade ago
Because you are significantly older, they may go a little harder on you during the test.
When making a left turn, always make sure you look Left, Right, Left THEN go. It can be pretty annoying learning from your parents, but its better that they care and are anxious than having a parent that just has a "whatever" attitude
