Because they can get away with it.

All the rest of the countries participating in the Olympics would do likewise if they could get away it; don't fool yourself.

There have been age-limit violations in women's gymnastics foever, maybe since the beginning of age-limits in this sport. Little girls bend better, bounce better and are far more disposable than are grown women (or 16-year old, half-grown women, anyway).

  • Thats the only way they can pretent to be the best.....there just mad they never could beat the US.... but w.e how are they the best if they cheat.... If china hadnt cheated then the results would of been diffrent... what kind of country lies about a girls age to beat another country China pethedic.... expecialy for the fact that it ok to threaten the athleats that there leader would jump off the building if they didnt win gold...

they cheat cuz its the only way to win... no respect for this country even if they claim they are "the best"....its pethedic

    i hope they get stripped...

For years kids have pretended to be younger than they were to qualify for something, such as a reduced rate for getting into the movies. Now they are doing the opposite to qualify for the Olympics.

This has generated a new term, "China Cheat" meaning a person who presents a false age, either too young or too old, in order to qualify for something..

China should be proud of itself and its addition to American slang...

LOL. Perhaps the Olympic Committee should just change the title of the event from "Women's Gymnastics" to "Girls' and Midgets' Gymnastics." It was certainly going that way before the "16" requirement was written up.

China does not follow the age limit rules because they have an absolute need not only to win, but to be perfect. They will do anything to accomplish this. Something to do with their concept of honor.

They want to win and that's pretty much it. They shouldn't have been able to compete to tell you the truth but it doesn't matter. Whats done is done.
