Indian food is amazingly fragrant and delicious. Lots of interesting spices, flavors and textures. You're in for a treat if you're going for your 1st time. I'm lucky to have some Indian friends who have taught me to cook a few things.

Drinks - chai (tea with spices, milk, sugar), mango lasse (lasse is yoghurt drink with sweetener or salt and fruit - similar to a smoothie)

Main Courses - curries (often spicy, yoghurt (not flour gravy) based), kebab, biryani, tandoori (cooked over open flame like bbq), pulau

Veggies - saag paneer (spinach with cheese cubes), rajma (spicy kidney beans), garbanzos (forgot name)

Accompaniments - naan (bread - some are stuffed with potatoes, peas, etc.), dahl (lentil/lentil soup), chawal (rice - usu fragrant Basmati), raita (yoghurt with comino seeds, cucumber, onion - good for cooling spicy curry dishes), pappadum (crispy, peppery lentil wafer bread), chutney (like salsa - many flavors, depending on ingredients may be hot, spicy, sweet, etc.), samosas (fried pastry pockets stuffed with spiced potatoes, sometimes meat and other veggies - served with chutney)

Dessert - gulab jamun (golden fired dough balls in sweetened rosewater syrup
