Red Sox fans: Jed Lowrie and Julio Lugo...?

I hope I never see Julio Lugo play another game at SS for the Red Sox..Jed Lowrie has stepped in and been playing great. This guy is the future right now and I believe that there's no way Francona can put Lugo back in the lineup when he gets healthy. In 126 AB's, Lowrie has 29 RBI. Lugo has 22 RBI in 261 AB's..plus Lugo has 16 errors while Lowrie has none..this is a Wally Pipp situation..what's your opinion on it? Thanks.

I have to agree with other posters on this. I can not see how they Red Sox can put Lugo back in the lineup with the way that Lowrie is playing.

Unfortunately though, I don't think that they are going to pay a multi-million dollar player to sit on the bench either. I think that for the rest of this year anyhow they will platoon, much in the way that Coco and Jacoby have. I don't think that Lowrie goes back to Pawtucket this season since the roster expands soon anyhow.

Off season will be interesting though.

Jed Lowrie is a major upgrade over at SS because he can hit...unlike Lugo who automatically Ks or GIDp...but i can see Francona putting Lugo back in SS when he comes off the DL...Lowrie will eventually be a bench player and be used as back up when Lugo is slumping...but i still think Lugo should be gone and Lowrie take over SS...

Ok Red Sox fans Lowrie is definitely an upgrade over Lugo but he won't be around for long. You used your first round pick to select high school shortstop Casey Kelly and even though he has struggled so far in the minors he will arrive in Boston and will be better than Nomar in the next 2-3 years.

Source(s): I go to Kelly's high school and he was the starting shortstop on the varsity team and I was the starting shortstop on the JV team and we practic together so I have watched him play up upclose and he is the real deal.

Why is this even a question? It's pretty damn obvious Lowrie but you know Francona is "loyal" to the players and will give lugo a shot.

Source(s): varitek, coco, timlin are examples of loyalty

Definatelly Jed Lowrie. I'm not too fond of Julio Lugo. He's a horrible SS.

It's the reason giving 4 years and LOTS of money to an ordinary player is dangerous.

My brother has Lowrie in a keeper fantasy league, so I'm pulling for Lowrie to stay in there as well.

Lowrie is definitely the shortstop of the future for the Red Sox, and the future might be now.
