Obama against unproven missile defense systems?

Why is Obama opposed to investing in unproven missile defense systems but it pro unproven alternative energy (what I mean is solar and wind and others are not nearly efficient enough yet). If the system is unproven then obviously it needs more investment to become better. Duh. Also he is for slowing down making new weapon advancements. What do you think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl32Y7wDVDs

Once again Obama is not quite up to speed, although from what he says one would think he is.

The Missile Defense System, which Poland just recently agreed to, has passed the existing test phases, sufficient to stop the threat they are intended for. Iran. Problem is, Russia (AGAIN) has already threatened MILITARY force, to stop these missiles from being deployed. If Poland goes ahead, as they plan to, we may see an invasion of Poland by Russia, just like Georgia. That however, will trigger a military response that could throw numerous combatants into a SERIOUS conflict, that escalates.

We've spent BILLIONS of dollars and YEARS in the missile defense system. Its a non starter apparently. However, research in alternative fuels is really just getting started. ALL research is "UNPROVEN" at the start... that's why we do research.

How uneducated are the Right wingnuts?

I'd much rather have a president who favors PROVEN missle defense over Unproven....wouldn't you?

I like to go to sleep at night knowing that, that which keeps us safe actually WORKS!

If Obama applied his own standards for judging "unproven missile defense systems" to his own candidacy, he would have to drop out of the presidential race.

Success is not a result of unproven ideas that are not pursued; it is a result of unproven ideas that are pursued.

Obama makes that statement about "unproven" missile defense systems and then says he wants bet our national security on non-existent "next generation" biofuels.

Obama is an idealist at best. He wants to slow down our development of advanced weapons systems. Maybe he needs to sit down and negotiate, without preconditions, similar slow-downs with China and Russia.

    This guy is dangerous.

It's the old guns and butter analogy. You can either spend your money on weapons of war or on the betterment of domestic society. Over the past 7+ years, we've been feeding the war machine to the neglect of domestic infrastructure. By investing in alternative energy sources, we can reduce our dependency on foreign oil, making life better for the citizenry while at the same time improving our national security.

Unproven? They have been tested and have over 80% success rate. Google SM-3 and you find out about the success the Navy has had and how foreign governments are buying the system.

Missile defense is a stupid strategy. Countries able to field large numbers of missiles would simply overwhelm it. Countries with only a few missiles wouldn't dare attack us that way anyhow.

It is the 21st century equivalent of a french Maginot line. The right supports it only because they thoughtlessly support every big budget defense project.

It puts money into the pockets of the rich people they suck up to, that's all they know. Who cares if it's good for anything?

He is opposed against putting it up, because it will be expensive, and this will anger Russia. How would you like it if Russia again installed a "defense" shield in Cuba? We would be against it. The word "defense" is just there to blind the term "offense". It is actually there to weaken Russia, and their allies. Take care. Btw, I'm not an Obama supporter.

It's funny that you use 'Duh' so many times, as if you're so much smarter than him and he's such an idiot............

    Oh the sweet irony.

Quick, lets say you have a billion dollars to spend and you can either spend it on testing "unproven" medicine to save a life or "unproven" missiles. Which one do you choose?

Did you miss the 'unnecessary' part?

I think the dictators and terrorists of the world are grinning at the thought of Green Light Obama paving the way for a defenseless America. And if Obama is successful at shattering the 2nd amendment - we won't even have small firearms to protect ourselves.

In the words of Benjamin Franklin: "Firearms are 2nd only in importance in the Constitution. They are the people's libertys' teeth".
