What is the theme of animal farm?

It's a satire of communism.

You'll notice how the animals are, at first, equal but soon the pigs start to take control, giving themselves all these extra benefits and changing the laws to suit themselves because they are the 'smartest.' In the end, the equal society the animals sought to create is corrupt. Just like communism.
