Will my turtle like to be with another turtle, some fish, or just by himself?
I just got a new turtle and my mom says that the pet shop dude says that he needs a buddy. Should I get him fish, or another turtle friend?

Turtles dont get lonely and they dont need a "buddy" the guy at the pet store was trying to get u to buy more stuff
he will almost certainly eat the fish
almost all species of turtle can be house with another of the same species (some are territorial so no more than 1 male and some are out right nasty such as alligator snapping turtles which need to be housed alone)

Turtles are NOT social animals, the guy at the pet store just wants to make more money. The ONLY time turtles go looking for other turtles to hang around with in nature is during breeding season, and unless you plan on breeding turtles you should NOT EVER put a male and a female together. If you have ANY questions about how to breed turtles or how to take care of the eggs, you are NOT READY to start breeding them. Putting two males together, or even in some cases two females or a male and a female (i.e. if you don't have enough room for them... 10 gallons per inch of shell length is suggested for ANY turtle) is inviting territorial skirmishes which can lead to injury and even death. DO NOT HOUSE TURTLES TOGETHER.
You can get him fish, but get them with the knowledge that they will most likely become food as will anything else you put in with it.
Please, figure out what kind of turtle you have (you don't mention species, so I'm not sure if you know or not) and do all the research you can on it so that you can give it a good life.

The guy at the pet store is just trying to make an extra buck off of you. Turtles don't get lonely. They don't mind having a tank mate, but there is always the chance that you will get at least one aggressive turtle and that could turn out bad. If you put fish in with it, depending on the kind you have, it may eat the fish. In all reality you don't have to get him a buddy, but if you want another one, you might as well take advantage of the guys "advice" and milk mom for all she's worth! Only kidding, to a point. Just remember that the more turtles you have the more water and bigger tank you'll need. They'll get dirtier faster which causes nasty odors if you don't clean the tank often. But no, he doesn't need a friend.

Um no turtles get 5-12inch and need a turtle dock and UVB light. It may be ok for a month but you need to upgrade to a 55gallon not a bowl as you can't have a turtle dock in here or the turtle will climb out. Plus you need a heater and a very strong filter as turtles are messy. You should of done reserch before hand.

The "pet store dude" just wants to sell another turtle. Turtles are not social animals, although they may crowd together to bask. It is probably too young to appreciate a mate and will probably fight to determine dominance if you get it a "buddy". Fish (not goldfish) are fine if you want your turtle to have food available all the time.
