Gay rights? Any help?
I NEED HELP!! I have to make a script on gay rights, could anyone help with any speech, points or anything by which I can make it.
I have to make about a 1 minute dialogue, wherein the character is the head of the gay community of some area. Notthing too serious, as its a humorous play.
Any help would really be appreciated.
I did try and use wikipedia. But its all too serious. I need something kinda funny, and not about marriage, or religion, or any such thing. Just that there are these people who dont want to be around this lesbian couple, so they want to throw them out of the building. Its in India, so such a thing is pretty plausible.
gay rights=the right to be gay!
its pretty strict here in India, so this is quite an issue
Thanks so much Vince. Took up quite a few parts of it. Finally done with my script! Yayyyyy! You're a lifesaver

Alright this is something I wrote for another question about 3 hours ago. It doesn't fit your situation but maybe it will give you some room and ideas to work with. Awesome idea for a play by the way!
More often than not our rights have been trumped and we are seen as a less desirable underclass in American society. We have to constantly fight for our acceptance and fight against the tyrannical bible thumpers and other homophobic morons out to have us persecuted. Our rights often do exist but are they enforced? No I don't feel they are and the evidence is everywhere. From the highest suicide rates of any minority group, persecution almost on a daily basis, discrimination in education and the workplace, over three fourths of the states not recognizing our right to marriage, and the Don’t Ask Don’t tell policy in the military which deliberately encourages discrimination and homophobic bashing. We have virtually no rights in the military and are deliberately allowed to be discriminated against on many levels. As for marriage we should have the same rights as anyone else to marry who we love, yet we are denied that right in countless states and have not been defended on a national level by any means. We are constantly swept under the rug by the politicians’ that simply want to gain our trust, then use us for more votes and then they never, ever fulfill what they said they were going to do for us. I think the only way we will ever achieve equality will be when we appoint one our own in offices of power. Until then nothing will change because people don't take the time to get to know us.
Things are changing but slower than molasses. I think it’s awesome that California has recognized and fought for our rights and I do hope that a domino effect will start occurring across the nation. There also needs to be massive improvement in sex education and help for us because we are so widely discriminated against and as a result have a vastly higher suicide rate than any other minority in the country.
I think it’s only a matter of time before we start seeing massive societal rifts between straights and gays. We're tired of being used, then swept under the rug; we're very fed up with the discrimination while being denied our equal rights. This is the single greatest violation of rights in this country to date and it exists because of a lack of education and understanding on the issue. We can educate people by personal experience(because we are gay) but only so much, especially when so many don’t recognize us as equals or instead see us as some kind of genetic abnormality that can be “cured”. We have existed for thousands of years but you don’t see that being taught in public schools. Most of the other minority groups have some kind of history month but of our contributions to society are never mentioned. I think that’s where things must change. The bigots and bible thumpers have a right to their opinion but not when it interferes and conflicts with the education of others who wish to learn more about us and better understand us.
I will always fight for my rights and the rights of other gays but I can’t do it single handedly. People need to be educated and shown how we’re not so different from them. We might have a different genetic makeup than our straight brothers and sisters but that doesn’t mean we should be “cured” or executed for being different than them. We are different and that’s how we will always be, but differences should be welcomed and celebrated, not feared and hated. I can only hope that the day comes when we are recognized as equals. However, that day can only come when we no longer accept being discriminated against and fight for our rights in sufficient numbers to show that we’re not just some minority in the world. If we are though, I sure as hell know we’re the largest by far and deserve our rights on a world wide level. To b recognized as equals is what we want and I will fight to be recognized as such. I can only hope that my brothers and sisters, straight and gay, will fight with us to enforce our rights and make sure we end the cycle of discrimination once and for all in this country.
If you have any questions for me or would like further clarification on anything I've written please email me. I do also expect to be given credit for my thoughts should I be mentioned or my ideas used to help you out with your piece. If you'd like further ideas on the subject please email me as I really am not doing too much this afternoon.
