7 year old, it used to be rare for him to pee in the house. could it be worms or an infection or kidney problems or something?

My first thought was Urinary Tract Infection.
Take him to the vet as soon as you can and they can verify that.
If you don't get him on antibiotics, it can easily travel up to his kidneys, causing a kidney infection.

If your dog does not normally pee in the house and is drinking a lot, its a visit to the vets. I hardly ever shout vets, however this could be a kidney problem. With a seven year old this can be resolved. Get a urine sample and visit the vets.

you might have to put her on a food and we timetable. have set times when she is fed so you can monitor the times she goes tp the toilet and take away her water when she goes to bed at night. when she does go to the toilet outside lots of praise and excitement. if you see her wee inside don't punish specially being such a timid dog. instead without saying anything if you se her do it lead her straight outside to where you want her to wee. look up crate training as well that could help in controlling the problem or try putting a command to the weeing so you can be in control over when she empties and maybe you can make her empty before she decides to wee inside make sure what you are cleaning the wee with does not have anything in it which will attract her to we there again because sometimes that could be the reason. hope these helped i know how hard it is when you are not sure what damages have been done from previous owners but good luck

Get this dog to the vet. Excessive thirst and peeing in the house could be a symptom of diabetes, kidney failure, thyroid issues etc.
A full blood work and urinalysis needs to be done.
Whenever a dog, who is reliably housebroken starts peeing in the home, it should be always taken to the vet first to rule out any physical changes. If the dog gets a clear bill of health, then its a behaviorial issue.

Worms, UTI, bladder of kidney infection, or neurological problems due to aging. Take him to the vet to find the cause!

Whatever it is, he needs a vet to look at him. It's most probably a kidney problem as he has all the symptoms. But it could also be many other things such as a urine/bladder infection, poisoning etc. Take him to the vet and they'll be able to tell you.

I would take him to the vet and have blood work done. The obvious first thought would be diabetes. It could also be an infection of some sort. Either way, a vet visit is in order.

males are not as prone to uti's as females- but it can happen
I'd think about testing the kidney function and asking your vet if they think your dog should be tested for diabetes or cushings

How could anyone possibly have voted thumbs down to Tarheelgirl and Aussie Mom? That's ridiculous, it was good advice.
My first thought was diabetes.
(waits for her thumbs down too....or do I have to say I am a Vet tech also to get a down vote??)
