    i truly wasn't sure and a year ago i would have said absolutely not, but this guy after seeing him, race after race, you had to feel it, you had to

    beleive not only could it would it should it happen....and yes, i am thrilled for him, and what pride and honor he has brought to the USA.

    Yeah, because he's Michael Phelps. There's not much to explain. I was a little shocked when he got the last one though

    Well I thought it was possible, just as anything is. I thought he would get 7 to tie the record, but might lose out on the last relay/medley.

    I'm SO glad I was wrong! Good for him, and yay for the USA!

    He already did...last night. He got the 8th last night to beat Mark Spitz. That man is an animal.

    I think we all would have felt let down if he didn't win all 8. We heard all about how great his chances were and we basically expected to watch history this Olympics. Anything else would have been a bummer...

    Easily. Michael Phelps is the greatest olympian we've had in years and he is a very good swimmer. He's gonna do it, it's just a matter of time.

    YES! he exceeded our expectations last time (not quite his goal, but still...) there was no question that he would work harder this time and achieve his amazing goal.
