Are multi-vitamin pills good?
Would you recommend them, and does your body absorb most of the nutrients? I would think that all vitamin and mineral supplements are good if they don't have too much preservatives and chemicals...

Most are good, but some are junk.
Centrum is junk for example. The reason is those rock hard tablets the vitamins are contained in can't be readily broken down by the body. They sit in the stomach and usually just pass through the body without any absorption having occured.
I once read an article on mulitivitamins where the author relayed a story of a friend of his. The friend had apparently taken a centrium in the morning and gotten into some manner of car accident over twelve hours later in the day. An xray was taken to assess his injuries and the centrium pills he had taken 12 hours earlier showed up on the x-ray still sitting in his stomach almost entirely unbroken.
If the tablet hasn't disintegrated in 12 hours, how readily availaible can the vitamins in it actually be.
Long story made short, most are good but buy capsules, not tablets.

Won't hurt. Except for a few fat soluble vitamins anything you take in to much of is eliminated in your urine. All multi brands limit what they have to well below unsafe levels.
If you are dark skinned or use sun block recent studies have shown that you need supplementation of vitamin d3 or d2.
A study that came out last week showed that anti oxidants may not be of as much benefit as most thought. Healthy mitochondria much oxidation when they are forced to work harder. So the article suggests that exercise actually lowers the oxidation levels not raise it as most thought.
The levels of anti oxidants in even high potency multi vitamins is low.
As always you are better off eating a diet high in different kinds of vegetables and fruits for your needed vitamins and minerals.

Multi vitamins are only as good as your body is at absorbing them
There is only one that I can take that has worked that way for me.
Most companies give you so much chemical base in your vitamins that the end up in your stomach like a little piece of rock. The ones I use actually dissolve and benefit my body,
Email me we can talk a bit more about this if you like.

While a good natural multi-vitimin is good, it is always best when you can combine the nutrients from the vitamins with the natural nutrients you find in food.
Many times these vitimins and other trace minerals bind together in the body to form a more powerful substance than either suppliment or food nutrition alone. i.e. orange juice and vitimin C bond to make a killer anti-oxident to help fight free radicals.

Probably a little bit but eating a good diet is better.
Not only do you not absorb all the nutrients but there are recent studies that suggest that they may even be harmful to you. However just about everything has the potential to be harmful to you so in moderation I don't think its much of a risk.

Multi-vitamins can be good for as well as bad for you. Most people in the US get enough vitamins in there diet so they need to take a supplement. Also, when you have to many vitamins in your body it can cause strain on your kidneys and liver.
