Going to Iraq next year for the first time. Should I buy a crap load of calling cards, I know they have phone centers, or should I just buy a cell phone with international plan. Will a cell phone even work over there, I'm 99.9% sure we are going to Ramadie.

You need to network with someone in your UNIT or Command that can throw light on this for you...
FAILING that - there is this guy, his/ her office is usually across the hall from the Squadron/ company commander, he's an enlisted guy Command Master Chief/ Sgt Major - 1st Sergeant/ Top whatever...
HE"ll be able to square you away on this.
NEVER EVER DIVULGE where and when you are rotating to or from a combat location on the OPEN internet.

I'd say talk to your Superiors or Commanding Officer about it. They'd be able to give you more accurate info. than random people on the internet.
