recovering data from a external hard disk!?
i am not able to copy files from my external hard disk to anywhere. when i start copying it moves a bit and then stops. i dont get any error msg and my system gets hang!! the data in the hard disk is quite important to me can anyone help me wid dis?

In India they will replace the hard disk and data cannot be recovered. You must start saving your data in multiple location.

Go to command prompt, start, click run and type cmd
And in command prompt, type chkdsk /f <drive letter of external hd>
If it asks you to schedule on next reboot, type yes and reboot

run checkdisk on it (under properties, middle tab) and do a thourough scan
