Why when I answer a question with OBAMA in it, does the spell checker say I've misspelled a word ???
...and with McCain, It doesn't? Is this Yahoo spell checker a Republican? .... Or doesn't it recognize him as a viable candidate?
Try it for your selves!

Actually, if you input Coulter, Biden, Pelosi, even O'Reilly, you get the same thing. Any name that sounds foreign or slightly off and you set off the spell check. Try inputting every candidates name. The more common first/last names (Edwards, Thompson, Richardson) don't get highlighted. The more foreign or unusual ones, however (Huckabee, Kucinich, and of course Obama) are targeted.

Because spell checker doesn't always pick up proper names.. Like obama is not common and neither is my last name so it tells me I spelled it wrong

Its because names dont usually come up on spell checker... McCain is also a brand name... thats why it works.

Because Obama is not a common name, and therefore is not included in their dictionary of correctly spelled words. My last name is pretty common, yet even it is considered a misspelling. :)

I've used obama's name in almost all of my conversations and your right it does pop up, i just ignore it though as long as i'm making a point.

It's because Obama isn't an Anglo-Saxon name.
