i have a 75 gallon aquarium on dresser?

It will be totally fine. I had the same situation but my dresser was way smaller. The aquarium stuck out about 8 inches on each side. I eventually bought a normal size aquarium stand because it did look a little awkward having the sides stick out so far.

55 gallons would be the minimum, but get the biggest tank you can. Your 2 goldfish could do ok in the 30 for several months, maybe a year. I suggest you by a larger filter for now, And in the mean time look on craigslist for a deal on a tank with a stand. In the mean time, the filter will build up good bacteria, and when you get the bigger tank, you should be able to just move the fish, the decorations, and the filter and not break the cycle. The stands do look flimsy,"I know, its scary" but they are designed specially to hold that kind of weight. dressers and tables are not made for the constant downward pressure caused by 500 ponds of water and gravel. and thats just a 50 gallon tank. 1 gallon of water wieghs 8 pounds, add in 2 pounds of gravel and accesseries per gallon, and it is easy to get an average idea of the weight of your tank when filled by adding a zero to the number of gallons of water in the tank. Trust me , I had a cheap metal stand with a 30 gallon for years with no issues, now its sitting in the garage holding a box full of heavy tools, not a bend not a wobble, not a dent. Now I have a used wooden stand for my 55 that has been holding the weight for I dont evan know how long.,

You might want to look into getting a stand specifically for a fish tank that size. And about the tank sticking off 6 inches on each side. That doesn't sound good at all.

Well if you figure, an aquarium stand isn't much different than stand! I built my own stand for my 55 gal and it's perfectly fine, I even have heavy rock and caves inside. You should be absolutely fine with your dresser. 75 gal is nice. good luck!

I would GUESS it would be okay, but i don't want to say i know for sure simply because i don't. But as far as the tank sticking out, make sure it isnt an acrylic tank because those need to be completely supported. If it's glass though, which it probably is, it should be fine sticking out a little because my tank is the same way. sorry doesnt answer your question exactly, but i hope it helped a little..

I wouldn't, especially with the ends sticking over.

But hey.. it's your tank, and your floor that the 75gals of water will end up on.

Please have a video camera running when you are filling it, then you can send the tape to the AFV TV show and get enough money to buy a new tanks and a real stand ;-)

I wouldn't recommend you do that....that's alot of water that would ruin your home if anything happened. Get a stand made specifically for your needs.
