In general if you know an equality you can use it to form two ratios and each will equal 1. Anything can be multiplied by 1 without changing its value. Conversion requires you to determine which ratio to use. For example:

    1 yard = 3 feet, therefore 1 yard/3 feet = 1 and 3 feet /1 yard = 1

If you are given feet (30 feet?) and want to determine equivalent yards:

    30 feet x 1 yard/3 feet = 10 yards (feet cancel out)

If you are given yards (7 yards?) and want to find feet:

    7 yards x 3 feet/1 yard = 21 feet (yards cancel out)
