Why did you start supporting the team you support?
Was it because of of friends family or are they your local team or did you just like the colour of their strip?
Also, have you always supported the same team or did you ever support someone else when you were younger?

as a child I followed Emelyn Hughes wherever he went and then later managed!! sad day when he passed
anyway my love of Celtic came later...I had never seen so much passion from the fans and the players and Celtic went with all I had been brought up to believe in.
to support Celtic means I feel part of a family..it's a way of life for me now...lucklily I met a man who feels the same...

I didn't start supporting them, not that I remember anyway, it was just something that was always in my life, also they were my local team when I was a kid LOL not really, I lived closer to Ibrox if I'm honest but why would my family bring me up supporting a sectarian team whos fans hated us just because we were Irish?, I liked the strip, my family and friends all supported the same team and no, I never supported another team other than Celtic, although I have went to Derry City and Cliftonville matches with friends that support them!

Wow ...
This is a really good question with a grand amount of quality answers.
I was raised a Ger when we moved to Ireland in the mid 70's ... I made the change to Inverness after going to a match in 2000/01(?) when they played Ross County ... I think there were 3.000 there? ... They weren't even a Premier side when I started following them. I was a Caley Thistle after that match. I met a grand amount of very good people during that match, that I still keep in touch with (and have a pint or two each year, when I travel back) throughout the years.
And indeed, like others here with secondary sides they support, I have a soft spot for Gers and will still watch them. And yes, I buy the odd Rangers kit every now and again, but me heart is in the Pride, The Pride of the Highlands ... Caley Thistle.

Have always been a bluenose,my dad's mate tried to convert me to a hibs fans when I was about 4 when he used to take me to easter road but thankfully we moved when I was nearly 5 and left that daft wee phase behind me lol
It was down to family though all my dad's side of the family support rangers but have never wanted to support anyone else anyway even as I got older, the only difference now is I also have an english team which I never had before until I met hubby.

My late brother won the "Player of the Tournament" at the local schools' Mini World Cup in 1974, and was presented a Scotland Munich World Cup top by Kenny Dalglish & Billy McNeill.
The captain and the glamour of Celtic football club stood before us, and that was how I became a Celtic fan.
The team most local to me is Queens Park. And a tale there is a guy a used to work with was captain of Arbroath, and he invited Mini Charlie and I to the opening game against Queens.
I got my ticket for the stands, and my mate took Mini Charlie on to the pitch for a kickabout with the squad.
I tell you Hampden can get awfy dusty, cos it was in my eyes that day.

Honestly started to support Rangers as a child because I hated the colour green and to annoy my brothers who were all into Rugby and supported Hawick who played in green. Since then there has been no other team for me only Rangers and our local team here in Cyprus 'Lapta'.

I cant believe you were so dumb as ask this!!!..you only need to hear your name to realise that you would be brainwashed at an early age..but to answer as a FREE minded individual I supported my local team and no I never have or will support any other team..they can make all the excuses they want but we all know why they really support the old firm

i used to live in a wee childrens home on Springbank street which is right infront of Firhill.
We used to climb on top of the old stand, which is now the Jackie Husband stand, and watch the games for free.
at the young age it was the red and yellow strip that made me follow the Jags, and later on i played for the Junior teams under the direction of Gordon Chisholm amongst some other coaches.
Think Thistle were the first team i wore the colours of and watching thier games was when i learned the rules of football so id say they are the only team iv ever followed in scottish football.

I was a Celtic supporter as a boy, my first strip was a Celtic strip my boyhood hero was Jinky Johnstone, I became disillusioned when i became old enough to understand what sectarianism was. I was called a fenian B*****B, by a boy the same age as me who didnt have a clue what his remark meant, but it had to be right because his dad told him so. I also heard boys. who supported Celtic, calling other boys Orange B******S. I then decided enough is enough. I Changed to my local team Killie, where you are accepted regardless of which faith you choose to practice. And the rest is history, however as i have always said i continue to have a fondness in my heart for the hoops. and i always will.
