Why is it always red and blue corners/shirts in olympic boxing?

Why did they pick those colours???????

    I think that they are just really contrasting colors, yet at the same time very bright.

    Blue and red were often used as army coats for conflicts as well (French/british). Also, I think even in ancient times they were used as opposing colors as well.

    I think because they represent combat colours. Red for fire, blue for water both do not go together..
