Do you think people just say they respect McCain for his service but don't mean it?

I have heard a lot of people say, "Well I respect McCain for his service, but he is so old and got shot down how can he lead!"

Just things like that where they say they respect him and then start saying really bad stuff about him.

Do you think people throw out, "I respect (enter name) for their service but..." too freely.

hmmmm I did my time in the service back in the 70's and my husband is a retired VN vet so hmmmm I respect ANYBODY that gives or gave service to this country... I never think about his age because he is more intelligent then some of the many people I know... I have NEVER ever said anything bad about him.. Yes I have about Nobambi but then.... if the shoe fits he needs to wear it... The only people in MY opinion that will slam McCain are the ones that havent read anything about him, know anything about him( and he has been VERY open and honest) and followers and more then likely are voting for nobummer because all hes doing is promising change which will only be for the worse!

whilst has McCain ever claimed to be a hero? I surely have examine the place he has denied being a hero. each and every physique at the same time along with his supporters and detractors have the proper suited to voice in spite of opinion they choose approximately him. in actual fact he served an prolonged time in Congress. yet another fact is that i don't help him, yet I admire the two him and Obama (and Barr, McKinney, Keyes, and Nader, Schriner, and so on. ). McCain has a particularly stable checklist of status up for what he believes in, with some turn-flops that at the instant are not any worse than Obama's recent variations concerning public financing of his marketing campaign and The FISA regulation. One area's brave convert is often the different components treacherous traitor. the actual incontrovertible fact that McCain and Obama are the two stable human beings makes it ok for human beings to ascertain out all applicants to work out who they trust maximum and vote their ethical experience.

This is a pretty common tactic. It's like those people who say "I don't mean to be racist, but" followed by a racially insensitive remark or stereotype.

Anyone who truly respects John McCain's proven record would be voting for him.

No. It's perfectly possible to respect someone and at the same time disagree with them or think they would not be the best choice for President of the United States. There are plenty of people who have done great things or who, like John McCain, have served their country honorably. But doing that and being President are two different things.

It is somewhat like saying "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims......"

If you have never served, you don't understand. But the PC thing to say is "I respect his service."

So, in answer to your question, I would say that a majority of them just say it to say it. But some of them actually mean it.

No i honestly respect the fact the John McCain bravely fought for this country to defend us and our freedoms. I just honestly believe that his policies and ideas are far closer to the policies and ideas that have ruined our economy, over exerted our military, neglected our countries infrastructure, and Greatly damaged our political standing in the world.

So i wont vote for him in November.

I haven't seen much respect if any paid towards him for serving his country during the most unpopular war our country has ever had.

I've seen POW jokes plenty though.

Yes. It's like the people that say they support our troops, but hate everything they have done in the past, are doing now, and may do in the future

that's because your talking to Democrats and why McCain is now leading in the polls.

Democrats you have to love them.. they only see the world as they want it.. not as it actually is.

PS At least people respect McCain.. unlike Obummer

No, I realy feel that ppl can seperate that part of his life from the man he is today. We SHOULD show respect to any/everyone who serves BUT that shouldnt stop us from voicing our opinions/concerns.
