With some real obese people it looks like their ankles melt into their calves. So they don't really look like they have ankles.

Kankles is a Lithuanian musical instrument.
Usually spelled "cankles": A derogatory slang term for fat ankles, where its hard to tell where the ankle starts and the calf ends.

the first answer is pretty right on, here's a little clarification. When there is no discernable transition between the calf and the ankle (ie, fat ankles) you put the two words together to get cankles!

its a slang word for ankles that are just as big around as the calf, thus cankles. large people or older ones who have poor circulation have this. no definition in the ankle
