What is your preference and why? ?

I am looking to paint a bedroom. However, I really do not know what brand of paint to use. I would like to go with Valspar Paint.

Do you recommend Valspar Paint? Why? If not which other brand do you recommend?

I've used Valspar and it was fine, and a lot better to work with and to live with than Behr. The only problem I had with Valspar was unrelated to the paint itself (really shady supplier in my old location).

I'm not too impressed with Behr. I painted the master bedroom in my last house with dark red Behr eggshell paint, and it just didn't live up to my expectations. Even a year after I painted, every time I brushed an elbow or a foot against the wall I'd leave a whitish mark and some pigment would come off.

Personally, I prefer Benjamin Moore paint. I've just used Benjamin Moore Aura to paint the interiors in my new house; it's expensive but it's also very low-smell, dries quickly, seems to be relatively hard-wearing (although after two months that's difficult to gauge), and the colours are much richer than with other paints. I also only needed two coats without primer to go from white to dark red, something I have never seen before. (My new house also has a lot of textured wallpaper on the walls; Aura seems to stick to it better than other paints do.) Its main drawback is price.

Valspar, formally Minnesota Paints, I worked for them through school many years ago in Minneapolis, my father retired through them They make an excellent paint.

You can get a cheap paint, if that's you choice. I have painted many homes in a large Southwestern city, I had my own construction company. I used what's called a contractors paint, usually it's a cheaper grade of paint.

Valspar is good, Bahr is good so are about twenty other brands. Most painters can tell by picking them up, the weight, what's in them.

I'm a big fan of Valspar Paints. Like most companies, they offer a large pallet of colors and a number of grades to fit your budget and application. The biggest reason I like Valspar is that they are made right here in Garland, Texas. Sherwin Williams has a plant here as well, but they tend to be a bit pricey.

I use Behr paints from Home Depot for latex jobs in my contracting business. I choose this because it has the best one coat cover and hide than any of the other brands I have used. For oil based, I use sherwin Williams. As for Valspar, I only use exterior stains for it's longevity.

Dunn Edwards is the best and most painters use it. It is more expensive and since you are using it inside it would not make that much difference. I read a comparison between Valspar (Lowes) and Behr (Home Depot) the results were close but Behr won out by a small margin.

In my opinion paint is paint. I like Valspar because my Lowe's carries it and it is one of the more inexpensive ones.
