    Baked Mac & Cheese

3 c. cooked elbow macaroni or other pasta

    In saucepan over medium heat:

    ¼ c. butter or margarine

    3 T. flour

    ½ t. salt

    dash pepper

    then stir in until thickened:

    3 c. milk

Then add 2 c. shredded cheese until melted. Pour over pasta and put in baking dish.

    Top with:

½ c. melted butter or margarine

1 ½ c. seasoned bread crumbs (I use boxed stuffing mix).

Bake 350 degrees 34-40 minutes. Bake 45-55 minutes if refrigerated.

You can use almost any type of cheese in this recipe. I usually use cheddar or a combination of cheddar and muenster or whatever else I have, but almost anything would work!

Get you a box of macaroni, 2 blocks of sharp chedder cheese, canned milk, and two eggs (eggs are to hold it together). Put the water on to boil for the macaroni once it start boiling add the macaroni stir frequently so it won't stick. Grate your cheese so it's shredded while the macaroni is cooking. Once it's done drain the water off the macaroni and add cheese and milk and eggs but in the oven and let the top get brown. I always layer my cheese and macaroni and i add about 6 different cheeses!

What I do is buy just the macaroni in the bag or a box, boil til the macaroni is tender, strain them to get all the water out and then I cut up some Velveeta cheese, melt it and pour over the macaroni and add a lil bit of milk to it to make it creamy

    1/2 pound elbow macaroni

    3 tablespoons butter

    3 tablespoons flour

    1 tablespoon powdered mustard

    3 cups milk

1/2 cup yellow onion, finely diced

    1 bay leaf

    1/2 teaspoon paprika

    1 large egg

    12 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded

    1 teaspoon kosher salt

    Fresh black pepper

    Topping:

    3 tablespoons butter

    1 cup panko bread crumbs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large pot of boiling, salted water cook the pasta to al dente.

While the pasta is cooking, in a separate pot, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and mustard and keep it moving for about five minutes. Make sure it's free of lumps. Stir in the milk, onion, bay leaf, and paprika. Simmer for ten minutes and remove the bay leaf.

Temper in the egg. Stir in 3/4 of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Fold the macaroni into the mix and pour into a 2-quart casserole dish. Top with remaining cheese.

Melt the butter in a saute pan and toss the bread crumbs to coat. Top the macaroni with the bread crumbs. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and rest for five minutes before serving.

Remember to save leftovers for fried Macaroni and Cheese.

I like to take elbow macaroni, put it into boiling water and add a little butter, then get some shredded cojack cheese, 4 cheese for pizza, mexican shredded cheese(non seasoned)and velveeta and after cooking and draining the macaroni, add the cheese stir it up and add just a little milk to make it creamy unless you like yours gooey.

This is amking me hungry just thinking about it.

we use the shredded cheeses that are mixed together. I think i get the pizza blend and then i boil my noodles till they are done. then i do it just like boxed mac and cheese, add some canned milk, butter, the cheese, and I put sour cream in mine and mix it till the cheese is all melted. I would think you could use this with what ever kind of cheese you liked best and it would work. Just experiment with what you like. We take the stuff that us and our kids like to make all kinds of cool recipes.

While your macaroni is cooking with a tablespoon of basil. Combine your favorite cheese and butter in equal parts. Grate the cheese if you need to. If it's a soft cheese like feta or cream cheese just smash it together blend this with a little cream... just enough to make it the consistency you want it. Chop coarsely a few walnuts and add all of this and mix into the hot, drained, cooked macaroni. Salt and pepper to taste. This takes about 15 to 20 minutes from start to ready to eat.

Cook the macaroni. Pour it in layers into a casserole dish with block cheese sliced over top of all the layers. Once you have made about 2 layers, top it off with more block cheese and crunched up saltine crackers. 450 until cheese is melted

    Preheat oven to 350.

While you are boiling about 1/2 lb of elbows, stir together a can of cream of tomato soup and half to a whole canful of milk, in a saucepan. Add about 1/4-1/2 lb of American cheese(depending on yopur taste) to soup mixture, so it all melts together.

Drain the elbows and put them in a casserole dish. Stir in soup mixture,. Put about 4 slices cheese on top. Bake until cheese is bubbly.

My mom got this recipe a LONG time ago on a Campbell's tomato soup can label. It is easy, and it is our favorite.

    Enjoy!

You say you don't like the box kind because you don't like American cheese; they use cheddar!
