Same as with anything with a combustion engine. More air in,More air out,More efficiently.

    First make sure it's tuned up,good plugs,wires,fuel filter,tires,brakes etc..

An intake will be a start after that, don't mess with your MAF. A good header or exhaust is the next logicol step. From there I think high ratio roller rocker's are available for the 2.2 in the cavalier maybe.

If you want to get serious with it,you could rebuild it and supercharge or turbocharge it.

I beleive Jackson racing might carry a supercharger for the cavalier's.

Anything can go fast, just make sure you do it right and with style.

you're finding for a intense overall performance area to in wonderful condition a low overall performance automobile. That lil 2.2l is pushing 120hp. Any aftermarket exhaust with an intake will upload a wee little bit of skill and many noise. A muffler itself wont do plenty on your anemic engine.

The only real way to make that car respectable, would be to turbo it, but that is expensive and really can ruin you engine if done improperly. All these people that say an exhaust and intake will add alot of power, just don't know what their saying.

Heavy duty rubber band or for an extreme makeover, a car crusher. Sorry but I couldn't resist.
