Is furniture with leather upholstery good with pets?

I am thinking of getting a leather recliner and sofa. I have the microfiber now. I wanted to know the pros and cons of leather furniture mainly with pets. thanks.

cats can damage them with their claws but if they are trained you dont have to worry about it, but if you worry get a guaranty on your furniture and watch your pets closely or some pets if you welcome them on the furniture they respect it but if you keep them away they could rebel and want to mess it up

If the cat is de-clawed and the dog is well trained why not. You know better than any one else if they would damage it. Will they always have access to this room when your away?

They can just as easily destroy fabric furniture. We have rules for children and pets. If they behave you shouldn't have a problem. A leather sofa is not a good place for a large dog to jump on, his nails probably would puncture it.

We have 5 kids at home and 2 dogs and when replacing our furniture we went with leather. So far, so good . The dogs aren't allowed to get up there but they do at night when we are sleeping. I've caught them so I know it's a pretty common practice even though they know better.

We bought the protection package which covers us for tears/rips for, I think, 5 years. It wasn't that much and was well worth the piece of mind. We've never used it but I'm glad we got it.

I'd much rather deal with that than with the pet hair inside the fabric weave - yuck.
