I don't think they can, and honestly don't even think they're even going to try. The Chinese did an phenomonal job and more importantly, they had something to prove to the world. They had to prove to the world that they COULD compete on an international stage, and they COULD pull off an event of this size and scale. London has nothing to prove, so why would they even try to match China?
But I hope they do match China.. it would be nice to see such a spectacle again... :)

London has alot more to offer than Beijing, we will show what true freedom is, something Beijing failed to do with its millions of robotic people who behaved as if they had a gun pointed to their head, afraid to step out of line. that is the clear difference.

I don't think so, but the British should have one that is special to their own, not copying anyone else.
