Is there a VCR or a way that will record digital over the air TV broadcast by pre-selecting time & station ?
Now with analogue broadcasts, the VCR can be preset to record a channel at a specified time interval. After Feb 17 , 2008, you can use a converter box and a VCR but you will need to tune the converter box to the selected channel and set the VCR to record the output channel from the converter box. The are VCR/DVD combo recorders now that have analogue ( NTSC), Digital (ATSC) and cable (QAM) tuners that record to both VHS and DVD formats. MY QUESTION IS: WILL ANY OF THESE COMBO RECORDERS WORK LIKE OLD TIME VCRs AND RECORD AT PRESET TIMES AND PRESET CHANNELS ON DIGITAL OVER THE AIR BROADCASTS?

If you are using a converter box, you are stuck with presetting the box unless the box has timer capabilities. I haven't seen any that do.
If your recorder has its own internal digital tuner and timer/record functions, then yes, you can do that. If I had such a recorder, I would not use the converter box. I would just drive my TV off the recorder tuner.
