how to dispose of crappy furniture for free/cheap in Massachusetts? ?
I have a couch in very bad shape (dog ate holes in one cushion, sunken in on one side). I don't think it is in good enough shape to donate so I don't know what to do with it. I can take it a few towns over to the DPW and they will trash it for $150. gotjunk.com costs about the same. Are there any other cheaper options?
I should mention that I already called my towns DPW and they will only accept large items in April. I do not have enough storage to hold the couch until then. I do not want to leave it on the side of the road as it may upset my neighbors.

Look for Deseret Industries under Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in your phone book. They take furniture and refurbish it to teach how to refurbish and to give it to the less fortunate or for resale. They will take it for free.

in a lot of places you put stuff by the curb and it mysteriously disappears without any trash pickup.
there is somebody who wants almost anything you pitch except used pampers.
