The big thing with the olympics (besides the games) are the medals. Have the kids make them and find some inch wide ribbon to hang them around kid's neck. If that is a choking hazard, you can pin them on the kids, and tie a ribbon bow on the medal first. Have the kids step up onto a stool when they get their medal, like they do at the olympics. Flags are important, try going on Oriental Trading Company's website. They would have lots of international things, or going to a party store may help you, too. Kids could design flags (6 colors make up the olympic rings- at least one color from every country's flag is represented in the rings) using regular typing paper turned sideways. String the flags on yarn across a room. Make torches from paper towel cores and yellow and orange tissue paper glued at the end for the "flame". A tennis shoe theme would work for nametags, a graph, or keeping track of who is entered in each event.

I used to do a lot of pudding finger paints with my preschoolers, but there are many more ideas on the web site I have included.

How about macaroni art? Or you can do a mommy/child hand print poster. Also you can paint with chocolate and vanilla pudding. Or you can just finger paint or body paint. Good Luck!

Collect oatmeal containers (or any container) and fill them with dried beans and cover with brown paper. Kids can decorate the outside with paint, markers or crayons (and maybe macaroni or pipe cleaners, or anything). Then they have a drum/tambourine.

Go to perpetualpreschool.com for great ideas. Avoid anything that requires coloring in the lines or copying a model.

    Potato stamps

Raw potatos, cut in halves, and then cut out shapes (or leave as halves). Dip them in watercolours and stamp paper. Very exiting when you are 3.
