The snake in that picture actually has red eyes. The black you're seeing is the pupil, just like a human eye. Look carefully and you'll see a redish brown ring around the left edge.
The color of a snake's eye usually blends in with the color of the head to camouflage it. For example, my corn snake's eyes are red. My ball pythons' eyes are gold and brown. My pastel ball's eyes are yellow. Retics have red eyes. Some snakes even have green or orange eyes. There are even morphs known as blue eyed leucistics who have beautiful blue/grey eyes. It varies by species and morph.

Sometimes, and sometimes is brown or even green.
