i need help on my math problam and i need help right away. the word problem is:

sugar-free gum contains 40% less calories than regular gum. If a piece of regular gum contains 40 calories, how may calories does a piece of sugar-free gum contain?

    40*.4=16

    40-16=24 calories

    do 40/100 *40 = 16 because it is 40 percent of 40 calories.

    40-16=24 calories

    If something is 40% smaller, you just subtract 40%.

    So 40% of 40 calories is 16: you do this by multiplying 40 by 0.4.

    The answer would be 40 - 16 = 24

    A shorter way would just be to multiply by 40 by 0.6, since that's 1-0.4.

    40% of 40 is 16 so..........40-16=24...sugar-free gum has 24 calories

    you just multiply 40 with .60 since thats the amount that will be left.
