    If the historical trend holds true, a little less than 1%.

    Since there are 750-800 players on the major league active rosters and disabled lists, figure that 5-8 players in the 2008 season will someday win election.

    Chip is a little off, I think. It is more like about 2% of guys who get more than a cup of coffee. That would put the number at about a dozen plus.

    However, it is safe to assume that 2 or 3 are so new that they are not even on our radar yet.

    I must add that Chip almost always has intelligent and thoughtful answers, so he may be right.
