2001 Buick Regal LS, key sticks in the tumbler every now and then.?

some times we can get it out by moving the steering wheel, or moving the car up and down the driveway.

It has the "chip" in the key.

I looked at the column, and all I could see was something electronic sitting under the key tumbler. What is this called and how much am I looking at...?

Replace the lock cylinder now before it gets stuck and then you have to drill out the lock. On most cars, if you remove the plastic cover under the steering column, you have access to a button the locks the cylinder into place. To remove the cylinder, put the key into ignition, turn key to the run position, and then push the button underneeth to release the lock, pull the key and cylinder out, replace with new lock.

Source(s): I just had the same problem on a Ford yesterday, only the key wouldnt turn and I had to drill it out-----lots of work to do it without damaging column.

turn the wheel interior the direction that takes the stress off of the ignition lock, even shack the steerage wheel a rapid whilst attempting to coach it. If it is not turning simply by fact it somewhat is perhaps caught from sitting, attempt spraying a lube oil like wd40 into the lock. I hate to state the obtrusive, yet confirm you have the the final option key interior the lock. in case you do and additionally you lube it and it nonetheless won't turn, then it somewhat is broken. It occurs. then you quite pick a locksmith, not a tow truck.
