I don't think Gilby Clarke deserves that title - as you said, he only served as a replacement for Izzy, he didn't write anything.

I don't think Izzy ever got the credit he deserved. As a key song and lyric writer I certainly think he should have been recognised for his talents. I think Axl and Slash both received too much attention which placed Izzy in the shadows.

However, I don't think any one member could be considered the best of the bunch. In my opinion, the only member that /didn't/ serve a significant purpose was Steven Adler whose departure did not cause a tragedy and in fact bettered the group by allowing a better drummer [Matt Sorum] to join.

Of course GN'R suffered greatly when Izzy left, but Izzy's solo work is just as average as VR has been so I don't think it's a great example to say that VR is missing something because so is Izzy, so is Axl Rose and his backing back [or 'new Guns N' Roses'].

Imagine if Slash had left instead of Izzy during the UYI tour. Or Duff, or Axl. Something would have still been missing because those members were all hugely important.

I think the great thing about Guns N' Roses was that they all bounced off each other. Each member [minus Adler], to me, was as important as the other. The musical chemistry they had was fantastic and if any one member had left it would have had a negative affect on the group.

Axl Rose is an imbecile for raping the name of Guns N' Roses. He should have re-named the band because the joke of a band he has now doesn't compare to the real Guns N' Roses. That band ended many years ago.

Izzy was the one who wrote most of the songs for the band, and after he left they did an album of all COVER songs, where no writing was required. I do like The Spaghetti Incident though. But I guess they went downhill after Izzy left.

Velvet Revolver are good, but they're no where near as good as Guns N' Roses were.

I think it's ridiculous that Axl is still using the name Guns N' Roses because he's the only original band member left. I've listened to some of the songs from Chinese Democracy on YouTube and they're all really disappointing. If or when it's released Guns N' Roses will completely lose all respect anyone has ever had for them. I really really hope that it won't be released and if it is, I hope the songs I've heard will NOT be on it.

Gilby did come in and save Guns from being without a new rhythm guitarist who slash was actually suitable with. But, the rhythm guitarist hardly every gets credit. This isn't new. And Axl probably screwed up, but it's legally his band right?

Nirvana-- evaluating Nirvana to weapons n' Roses is like evaluating the Beatles to The Monkeys. There basically is not any assessment for what Nirvana in some short years provided to the international of track. Their legacy and proposal will stay to tell the story. Kurt Cobain replaced right into a genius.

They did the right thing by breaking up at their peak. I don't think they would've done well after the grunge thing and now the emo thing. Quit while you're ahead.

As for Axl's new band. They shouldn't use the name GNR.

  • i believe that Slash should be called the Guns/n Roses hero
