How can germs multiply...?

on surfaces such as worktops or tables when there is simply nothing for them to feed on?

    Heat.

    Time.

    There cells just split one into two, two into four, four into eight ect and they get more and more.

    This is why you freeze food, to stop the germs from making the food rot, by removing the warmth.

    Germs dont really need food, they just mutply off the dust and other germs on you worksurface.

    Since bacteria are prokaryotic cells they reproduce through Binary Fission.

    They can't multiply with nothing to feed on but there is usually something there for them to feed on - it can be mcroscopic (from food, sneezing, etc)
