Is it bad for an 18yr old that hasn't had a part time job.?

I have tried to get a part-time job for ages since I was 16, I have applied for loads of jobs, But they just haven't bothered to reply. Also there was this time when I asked this women who works for Wilkinson's, I said "Have you got any part time job vacancies available" And she said "No" Then this other women came along shortly after, she asked the exact same question "Have you got any jobs available" and the Wilkinson's women said "yes" to her. Is it the way I look or something.

Also I live in the middle of Nowhere, In a small village. so the buses only come every hour. I really need some money, just to support me in my A2 Level Art& Design course. Because I have to buy Art materials and they are really expensive too. What shall I do? I am really depressed because of this, because I feel like a failure.
