Is it good OR bad to remember past Birth ?

“Past birth”? Would you kindly offer some explanation that proves there is truth in it?

In his book Hinduism: Its Meaning for the Liberation of the Spirit, Hindu philosopher Nikhilananda says that ‘experiences after death cannot be demonstrated by reason.’

In the lecture “Models of Belief in Eternity in the Religions,” theologian Hans Küng points out: “None of the accounts—mostly coming from children or from the countries where there is a belief in reincarnation—of a recollection of a previous life could be verified.”

He adds: “Most of [the researchers working seriously and scientifically in the field] admit that the experiences established by them do not provide the basis for a really convincing proof of a repetition of earthly life.”

Spirutually it is very good because you need not to start from abcd again. Seccondly you can see that this is what you have been doing in all your previous lives. In your life there are so many situations where something mattered like life and death situations, After a few years when you look back it looks so trifle that you staked your life for that. So may patterns in your life becomes clear to you. You become aware that same stupidities you have been doing in your all lives and it is high time that you drop it.

It is harmful in another way. It can devastate your present life. This life itself is too much to handle. Any time you can go mad. Past life becomes too much of a burden. So it can be done after long preparation only.

It is a bad thing to remember the past birth as a person is not so inteligent. who said that it hampers our progress towards being a saint that is a different thing that v learn from our mistake & rectify for the best

Bad. I read some books on reincarnation and the Monks say we are not spiritually programmed to remember past lives because if we were 100% sure we'd cop out of life, become perhaps suicidal thinking, oh my life is awful, let me come back as a famous actor or star ship commander next time round. They pointed out that one Chinese dynasty capitualted and caved into the Mongol invaders for having such apathy as forget it now, it will be better in the next life.

well... when the body dies and the soul is set to be born into a new body, it apparently makes a promise to God that it will do better this time and always remember and think of God. but through the trauma of birth the soul is overpowered by the mind. that's why you have to do your best in this life so that you won't take birth again and you'll go back to Godhead.

It is of no use, man does not want to rectify for the best, maybe for the worst. We do not want to learn from our mistakes, but to take the easy course. We will add to our sins, because by nature man is vengeful and evil minded.

Life is like a river flowing to the sea.

Whatever happened in past is not of so much value as the present.

Firstly, it is not in our hands. Secondly, goodness or badness of any thing is a relative term. Every thing has both the aspects of argument. Suitability depends upon the place, time and situation.

No one knows or remembers his past birth .

It may be bad in certain cases and circumstances to remember it if some one could know it .It may be good also in certain cases and circumstances to remeber if it is possible to remember it .
