Anyone out there with a bachelor's degree in accounting?
I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting and have about 2.5 years to go. Here is a list of questions:
1) Do you like your accounting job?
2) Do you receive a good starting salary?
3) How many hours a week do you work?
4) Do you ever have fun while on the job?
5) Is a good gpa required to get a good job? What was yours?

i wasn't an accounting major, so i can't answer all of your questions, but i know a few friends who did major in that so...
2) i just saw an article either on msn or aol talking about college degrees that will give you the best starting salary and accounting was one them along with doctors, lawyers, engineers, and software programming... so i'd say that's a pretty good group to be included in. a friend of mine just graduated with that degree and makes $35 and hour at some dinky accounting office!
3) like most professional jobs, like say you work in a firm/office or whatnot, you'll most likely be working 5 days a week from 9-5 or 8-4 or something along those lines that equal out to giving you 8 hours a day, typically 40 hours a week.
5) most employers don't care about your GPA. i don't know any friends who've gotten jobs where in their interview their employer has grilled them or even asked them what their gpa was or what kind of grades they got. i got told by most my professors in college that company's could really care less. my professors said that whenever they are called as a reference, maybe 1 every 50 times they get asked what kind of grades a student got. most employers care more about what kind of worker you are, how you are to work with, ethics, and personality type things. i mean you can use it as an attribute, say if you had a high gpa in an interview you could use it to say something like you are hardworking and strive for perfection and your gpa reflects that.

I have known many people that have become accountants, and they all have told me that getting past statistics was the most difficult part. With the background you have described you should do well. Most business majors take accounting principals in their 1st year. I took it my first quarter. My major was marketing.
