How can I get a wireless signal on my laptop anywhere I go?

I don't know much about computers, but I need my laptop for work. I was stranded in an area without a signal for two unproductive days due to having to evacuate from Gustav. I'd like to know how can I get a signal from a home without having to go to a location that offers WiFi access. Is there a way to purchase WiFi service without having to actually GO to a hotspot location?

You can purchase an aircard and service from a cell phone carrier. You would be able to access the web anywhere you have a cell phone signal. Plans should cost around $50/month.

AT&T has the connect card that plugs into your PCMCIA slot that you can use to connect to the Web. You should check and shop around with other carriers for the best price.

no, unless you wanna carry around a satellite dish/Microwave emitter.

the wireless hotspots still need to be linked to the internet somewhere and as suchif there is no hotspot there is not internet.

    sorry :(
