I just perscribed Buspar for anxiety?

SHe put me on 5mg ...3 times a day...15 mg a day basically. I want to know how long will it take to start helping me? I have had severe anxiety attacks. I freak out and have low tolerance of things arounfd me. i am an insomniac as well. I lost my daughter who was 8 to cancer and I also lost my nephew who was almost 9 to cancer...he was my twin sisters son. i have not coped with it yet nor i do not think i have gone thru a healthy grieving process. i have night terrors...nightmares they wake me up in middle of the night. i get severe nausea and dizzyness and my heart races alot.i feel paranoid and scared sometimes. i feel like there is a lump in my throat and it bugs me. and tightness in my chest. is busbar good and effectic on an anxiety disorder such as this? what other options do i have?i really want to make the meds work. i hear sometimes they take weeks to start working and i felt discouraged by that. : (

    Mental/Mood medications usually take 2-3 weeks to fully take effect.

    Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.

    Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.

    But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.

    The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced... you have that "learned behavior" in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction... There are several other techniques to help cope them!
