I keep hearing the problems with socialized healthcare.. so let me ask you a blunt question.?

If you had a choice between your loved one (mother, father, sister, son etc..) waiting a month for a heart transplant which would be free or being told that the procedure cost $250,000 and your insurance only covers 10% (standard HMO) and you must come up with 40% before they will be able to perform the procedure.....

which choice would you want??

Cause I know I dont have $100,000 lying around waiting for an operation...

And this is why so many die that cant afford it... but dont worry.. some of you out there who hate the socialized idea will one day be faced with that $100,000 decision....

Your point is well taken - for 1% or less of the actual cases. More often than not, would you pay $500 on insurance premium or $200? That is what the universal health care is all about - cutting costs so it is affordable for more people.

I also have to wonder why the conservatives cry that "socialized" health care will make healthcare worse... The US is already ranked at # 37, just above Slovenia...

But we do SPEND way more than others for the bad service.

These facts are only true if you assume these are the correct figures,in fact most people who are uninsured are young people who often do not purchase health insurance, also you state this proceedure will only take a month of waiting and it would be free (no such thing as free it would be at the tax payers expence i.e. people who go to work every day and pay in to the government)when the fact is that assumes a heart would be available for transplant and that it would be a match and even be able to placed into the waiting person, you do not provide any time frames to support your claim from countries that have socialised medical systems, that would be even more difficult to support your claims based on the fact that the quality of medicine will go down as wages decline and as people elect not to enter the medical feild, and I should ask this question,if you have ever been to the D.M.V. (Tag Agency) would you trust these same people who can not help you to get a tag or drivers license to a timely manner,to help you with a heart transplant. Think with your head,Feel with your heart,it may sound good but it will not be good for you.

So where does the money come from to pay for this procedure?
