Who is/are your favorite photographer(s)?

I am taking a photography class right now and I am curious what and who inspires other people. I am looking for the names of your favorite photographer(s) and maybe tell me why. Thanks for the answers.

Update:

I like W. EUGENE SMITH, a Photojournalist (1918 -1978) I recently discovered.
