Another YouTube Copyright question.?

I plan on putting videos on YouTube from a series of DVDs on my computer. Each disk has a few skits, which would be one video. How would I go about uploading to YouTube withough disobeying the Copyright laws from the company? I do not plan on hiring a lawyer.

Comments are appreciated.

Thank You.

Update:

And how would I find and communicate with the copyright holder?

NEVER worry about copyright laws. You're a small fish and will never do anything to piss off the authorities enough. Copyright laws are slowly dying anyway. Relax and violate as many as possible. If you get into trouble, move to China.

Unless you own the copyright or have a license, uploading video to YouTube would be illegal, with rare exceptions. Contact the Copyright Clearinghouse, or similar agency, for info on obtaining clearance. Who knows: you might get a license for a few dollars. The duration of copyright is a complex issue and varies from country to country.

You would have to get permission from the copyright holder or wait until the copyright expires (70-odd years).
