Why should I run a virus scan on my computer if McAfee protects as I go?

If McAfee is supposed to protect my computer at all times, what is the point of the scan process and how often should I do it?

heavy user: scan once a week (more if u suspect a virus)

regular user: every one - two weeks

soft user (email/homework) - every two - three weeks

it really depends what kind of sites you browse.

Im no longer shure as I surely have a mac and don't likely use a virus test. besides the undeniable fact that i do no longer advise which you employ "my sparkling notebook" because of the fact my buddy used it as quickly as to objective and advance his own computing gadget computers velocity, whilst it actually began to smoke. because of the fact the edge of the computing gadget became into open revealing a smoking motherboard. >.<
