Other answers not withstanding, I think it's time for a dose of reality. You cannot be both a pediatrician and a professional pastry chef. Either job is extremely demanding. Doctors don't just show-up in the office, check out a few kids, write a few prescriptions and buzz off to something more entertaining. They work extremely long hours including nights and weekends and still have to deal with insurance, training, staffing, etc. Pasty chefs are just as busy but for different reasons. Any small business owner will tell you that a 40 hour work week does not exist. If anything, it's closer to 60-80 hours of hard work.

Now, if you wanted to be a doctor and treat the pastry chef thing as a hobby, no problem. But, I'm afraid it can't work the other way around...can't be a doctor as a hobby.

But all is not bad news. Based on your question it sounds like you still have time to decide. In the meanwhile, you can look into both jobs, take cooking classes, talk to some doctors, volunteer at a hospital or doctors office, etc. to get a better idea which direction you should go. Good luck.

work 8am-2pm as a pastry chef and 3-9 pm as a pediatrician. that way you make desserts for later that day early on and then you have time to help sick kids during after school hours.

Yes, you can be both if that is what you would like. Go for it...we are only limited in what we can accomplish by our own selves...don't limit yourself.
