Am I stupid since I take Precalculus?
I take Precalculus my Senior Year while others are taking Calculus AB and BC.
Am I underachieving? I really had no choice but to take Precalculus. It was either that or College Algebra.

My son never got farther than pre-calc in high school. Now he is a college senior studying mechanical engineering and has successfully completed more math and calc courses than I can count.
I teach at a college, and plenty of students start out with less math preparation than you have. Math is not required in many college majors. Those who need it always manage to fit it in. I wouldn't worry about it.

Of course not. Who cares anyway, unless you aspire to be some kind of mathematician, then it really doesn't matter. Just do well in all your classes, thats what colleges want to see. Just because some others are taking Calculus AB or BC doesn't mean they're doing so well in it. It looks better when you do well in a course like Precalculus, instead of taking some super hard math class that you can't pass.
Your fine. Good luck!
Source(s): I'm taking precalc as a senior next year and my GPA is a 3.5 - JohnOSevensLv 41 decade ago
Meh. I took Pre-calc my senior year (in the first half - it was only a one-semester class). There are worse things. I went on to have a very successful college career. As an English major.
Really, beyond algebra 1, you'll never use it in real life, so don't fret.

Well I took Algebra 1 my freshman year
Principles of geometry(watered down geometry) my sophomore year
and dropped math after that.
and I go to an expensive private prep school in southern california.
people see me as a slacker, but I nejoy my high school experience, and thats whats important to me. I still take as many classes as i can, filling up my schedule with electives that i enjoy and learn from, like yearbook, psychology, and theatre.
don't sweat what others are doing. you'll be much happier doing your own thing

Stupid? Hardly. You have to take Pre-Calc before you take Calculus, so taking Calculus without that WOULD be stupid!
Don't worry too much about "underachieving" -- especially in math, people tend to be placed at where they belong.

Dont ever think of yourself as stupid just because you take precalculus some people are good at math and some people are good in gym so you may be bad in math and the other people are good in it but they may be bad in science and you may be good in it
hope this helps

No, not at all.
Different people learn at different rates.
It all depends on who the person is.
