Finding a 55 gallon fish tank?

I'm looking for a 55 gallon fish tank for my Red Devil/Flowerhorn/Mayan cichlid mix He's huge and we've only had him for about a year, but we have him in a 10 gallon tank because he was so little when we bought him. The website said they can get about 8 inches long and to have him in a 55 gallon tank, but I need to find one for cheap. Everywhere I've looked is really expensive. I need something around $100. Plz help.

Update:

He is about 4 to 4 1/2 inches long already and is only about a year old, I got him when he was less than an inch long

You can actually probably find a new 55 gallon aquarium kit at WalMart; other than that you could try buying the tank separately but if you want it new you're most likely not going to get it under $100.

What I suggest you do is look for a used tank in your local classfields, or at http://www.craigslist.org./ You will find people selling their fish tanks, often fully equipped, and very cheap. Just make sure that the person trying to sell the tank to you is trustworthy, and if you can measure the tank and check for any leaks or something of that sort. But in my experience of buying 4 aquariums of craigslist, I've never been dissapointed. :)

You can also try looking at local fish communities such as forums, members often sell their equipment there and it is much more trustworthy. eBay is also good, but make sure the seller is local!

You can also try looking at privately owned pet stores (not petsmart or petco) and ask for used aquariums they might have for sale. A local fish store was closing down, and I bought a 60 gallon tank for $50. :)

None of those will fit a 55 gallong tank. Find a hood that is 48" long.

You can look on aquabid.com or you can go to a privately owned pet store. They will probably be better with their prices. I have a Mayan Cichlid (not mixed) and he is huge. I dont know if a 55 will fit it. He is probably getting close to 8 inches. But since your fish is amix it probably wont get to big.

    Craiglist.com always has cheap ones.

    So does Ebay.

Walmart has some for at least maybe $70-80 I think.

Best bet would be either craigslist or Ebay.

Walmart has then, but like you said, they are not really cheap. other than that, i would check craigslist, ebay, or the local papers or any local pet stores (little stores, not petsmart, ect.), sometimes they have one that someone may have traded in. Good luck!
