Hey! Don't worry about it so much :). Let me tell you - I am not talented with languages. I took French lessons for 6 years, 4 hours a week between the ages of 10 and 16 and I cannot speak a word of it.. and the reason for this is because I didn't maintain my learning when I got home, and I didn't immerse myself in any all-French situation at all.
This year however, I took Spanish i2 without any previous Spanish knowledge, but before I went started the class I started doing little things, like listening to Spanish podcasts, watching Spanish TV with English subtitles, and talking to Spanish people online.
One of the best things you can do is, if you like music, listen to Spanish music and sing along, - search for an english translation. When you sing along in Spanish it's fun but you learn pronunciation, and if you think about what it means in English when you are singing I garuntee within a few months you will know many, many, words in Spanish. Try some fun artists, like Shakira's CDs Pies Descalzos (Bare feet), Donde estan los Ladrones (Where are the thieves?) and Fijacion Oral (Oral Fixation). I also recommend Selena Quintanilla's albums "Amor Prohibido" (Forbidden Love) and "Entre a mi Mundo" (Come into my World).
I speak Spanish to conversational level now, and can carry conversations quite easily from using the above methods. Buena Suerte (Good Luck!)

First of all if you put in your mind that "for sure I am gonna flunk spanish 2" you already lost! Take one day at a time, the new book, I'm sure, has more advanced lessons, don't hassle your mind trying to go over the book when you are just on the beginning of the classes.
Some tips, search a spanish newspaper or magazine in the internet and try to read it, first for pronunciation, then trying to understand what you're reading. I don't know if you got a Spanish/ English dictionary (if not I recommend you "the Spanish/English Dictionary of the Americas - by Cervantes -Walls". When trying to understand anything you read in spanish in the internet grab your dictionary (this is an excellent way to learn new words). Dedicate to this two hours per day, no more to not get tired of stressed.
We all make fool of ourselves when trying to learn another languages, I speak spanish and was hard for me in the beginning to learn english. But I guided myself thru the internet. But remember one thing, nobody makes fool of him/herself unless you're thinking you will or that you are one!
I came to Australia from Southamerica, now I live here for more than 4 years and either in my home country as in here I always heard the following comment: "I really admire people who's mother tongue is english, because when they speak spanish they make a lot of errors but they don't mind because at the end everybody understand them and it makes them easy to learn the spanish language"

It's my savior. You just type the word in and it'll translate it to English or Spanish depending on what you want. Just make sure to listen really well in class and do all of the homework. It also would be good to ask for extra help from the teacher.

You'll be fine. Don't panic. Freshmen are just as smart as sophomores. Make friends with some of them and ask them if they want to form a study group to study together. You will find that they are probably just as lost as you, right now at the beginning of the year. Or if not, they can help you get back on track. Good luck!

I work with a lot of internation people ranging from Japanese, German, Spanish, Swedish, Korean etc...
This is by far the best, most accurate, free online translator anywhere and I have the opinion of a Japanese Ambassador to the United States to quantify that.
