I want to buy an 2001 Audi TT, But are they reliable?

Ok now i also want a TT. I wanted a A4 and was satisfied by the answers but I want to know about the TT. I know they are pricey to fix. I am ok with that. But are they reliable? do they last long? is the engine constantly breaking? Audi TT owners, I especially need you answer!!!

Hi, my dad has had a 3.2quattro for about a year now. It's 2 years old he bought it second hand, so far other than it's normal service it hasn't needed to go to the garage. He love's it (having a second childhood I think) and so do I, I pinch the keys every chance I get, I love driving it. If it had more room in the back I would buy one myself.

They are truly wonderful!!!! You must use only genuine Audi coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and power steering fluid. You must also use ONLY audi approved engine oil meeting specification 502 and 504. (or is it 402 and 404). either way, the oil you use must say on it "approved for use in Audi/VW." Audi will extend your warranty if you can prove these things. I prefer Mobil One or ELF oil, even better!!! The only issue to be concerned with is having your timing belt replaced on time. These cars were engineered by experts to run at speeds in excess of 130 MPH all day long and not even get over-heated. They are a blast, and they are very safe (see NHTSA) besides. As with all cars, it depends more on what the previous owner knew about preventative maintenance and how knowledgeable he/she was. Buy and drive with confidence!!!!

It is a good buy if you don't mind spending about 1500 dollars a year on repairs. Audi cars are great for the first owner, but after that things do not go that well. At about four years old the repairs start coming in and get worse the older it gets.

My husband has an Audi TT quattro. Loves it! Great car, reliable and fun to drive. It has had no problems. I would highly recommend it!

It is somewhat reliable, but then again, it is just a VW Golf with Standard Leather Interior. I am not an Audi Hater, I sell them. But believe me, you will be much better off with an A4.

Parts and maintainence are higher than average. If it is a Quattro model have the awd box checked. The engine is strong and overall a well built car.

    Check audiforums.com to check issues.

my brother has a 2000TT 180 w/APR chip, since new. he takes care of all his cars so it comes down to how well its been maintained. Only problems hes had are the aero pieces under the car. They have broken from contact with hard snow. other than that the car is bullet proof since his ownership.
