Buddha wanted to know why people suffer. He was enlightened. Was it good for Him and others ?

If His teachings were helping the World, which is fast changing, we world have a Peaceful society.

When we resolve to move away from bad 'Kamma' aren't we selfish doing bad against the Social structure. How do we resolve for a better understanding?

Update:

Buddah went against the institution of Marriage leaving both Wife & Child.

This act and more of his teachings are against 'Bhakti Yog' Emotional joining with GOD (positive energy) as he avoided term God.

Bhakti Yog tells socially connected people how to reach God by Yantra & Tantra (Instrument & Process). Still we have Pagoda & Mantra (prayers)

Buddha avoided the term God because he accepts that he could not know about Him. He left his family and all in search of truth. This was his commitment towards his goal of life. Only he could reply whether it was good for him or not, but certainly it was good for the society because he gave a genuine way of life practices.

Your question is confusing. How is moving away from bad kamma being selfish and doing bad against social structure? It seems to me that quite the opposite is true.

The literal meaning of the word kamma is "something that is done" or a "deed". It also means a mental state that is instrumental in doing the deed, good or bad, wholesome or unwholesome. So, technically, kamma means the mental state which arises in the mind when people do some deed.

Buddha's search was for something that survives death. He was not directly searching for how suffering could be avoided. When he found out that which is deathless he could see what is the cause of suffering.

His teachings are really helpful in fostering a peaceful society. Have you ever heard of a Buddhist terrorist. Buddhism does not have a god to claim that theirs is the best god and true god. In the history of Buddhism you will not find the blood shed done by christians and Islamist done in the name of religion. Today Buddhism is more important than any other time. It is a way to make people live and search alone. Today when family values and personal bindings are disappearing. so Buddhism is a way to live in today's times. But to accept the Buddhism in it's complete form is very boring. It is offcource out of date but it is more contemporary than any other religions. It is not a faith system but a scientific approach to life and it's secrets.

I don't know a lot about Buddhism, but I know moving away from bad Karma is selfish. I thought good Karma is selfless?
